Punteggio 100/100 · James Suckling, Feb 2024

What a breathtakingly deep and complex nose! Still just beginning to show what it is made of! Dazzling spectrum of red, blue and black fruits that it would take up way too much space to individualize, but there's certainly an intense black-cherry note. Super-refined tannins that make it glide over palate incredibly gracefully. Super-long finish that's so silky. A cuvee of 57% cabernet sauvignon, 21% carmenere, 12% malbec, 7% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. 20th Anniversary Berlin Tasting Event, February 2024.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2022-2035, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Mar 2022

The 2015 Seña is the product of a warm, early ripening year. A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Carménère, 12% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, it spent 22 months in two thirds new barrels or foudres (12%). Dark garnet red in the glass. The fruity, open nose offers notes of blackberry and blackcurrant with floral aromas, herbs and hints of ash and cedar. Juicy with a refined texture, a smooth feel and mild freshness, it’s complex in the mouth with well-defined flavor. A focused wine with a slightly herbal aftertaste.

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Carmenère, 5% Cabernet Franc. Mid crimson, bright. More intense nose than the Chadwick 2016. But a little dilute on the palate. Good dry, appetising finish. (JR)

Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2020-2027, Jancis Robinson MW, Apr 2018

Released September 2017. 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Carmenère, 3% Cabernet Franc, 12% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot. TA 6 g/l, pH 3.55, RS 2.21 g/l. A dry growing season with average rainfall meant steady flowering, fruit set and healthy fruit conditions. Hand-picked and sorted by hand. Stainless-steel fermentation, three pumpovers per day. Total maceration time ranged from 15–30 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, and 8–12 days for the Petit Verdot. The final blend was racked to French oak barrels (65% new) and aged for 22 months, during which time malolactic fermentation and stabilisation occurred naturally. Mid crimson. Aromatic and almost Margaux-like. Sweet and polished. Easy to appreciate. Not one of the most concentrated vintages. But very appetising and fairly forward. (JR)

Seña 1:1
Seña

Seña – literally meaning “signal” – was Chile’s first icon wine. In the early 1990s, the country had a reputation mainly for lower-end, high-volume wines, but Eduardo Chadwick, owner and president of Viña Errázuriz, set out to change that.
