One of the top whites in the appellation, and probably the best 100% Grenache Blanc made in the world, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Clos Du Belvédère Blanc comes from a rocky parcel just beside the estate and was vinified and aged all in barrel. Needing air to show at its best, it offers rich, yet fresh notes of white peach, buttered citrus and stone fruits, with plenty of minerality and floral nuances. Rich, full-bodied and beautifully textured, drink this brilliant white anytime over the coming decade or more.

Bright yellow. Powerful, mineral-accented aromas of pear nectar and Meyer lemon, joined by hints of smoky lees, jasmine and fennel that emerge with air. Sappy, concentrated and supple in texture, offering intense orchard and pit fruit flavors sharpened by a smoky mineral nuance. Finishes stony and impressively long; echoes of citrus zest and dusty minerals add focus and lift.
There are two white special cuvées, both of which are some of the most impressive whites I’ve tasted from the appellation. The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Clos Du Belvédère Blanc is 100% Grenache Blanc, all from the rolled stone pebbles of the Clos du Belvedere parcel located by the estate, that was vinified and aged in barrel. Straight up knockout stuff, with ripe peach, citrus, crushed rocks, tangerine and exotic flowers, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful mid-palate depth and an almost structured, tannic feel. I’d buy as many as I could afford and drink bottles over the coming decade or more.
