Intense straw yellow. Lemon nose with notes of grapefruit pith. Very minerally and stony. Grapefruit palate with only a hint of oatmeal possibily betraying oak. Complete, long and complex yet refreshing. Ends completely dry and with a fine texture. This deserves food! (WS)

In terms of complexity, richness and potential longevity, Soave Classico does not get better than this. The 2013 Soave Classico Contrada Salvarenza Vecchie Vigne opens to a luminous off-gold color with ripe aromas of peach, Golden Delicious apple, saffron and toasted almond. The wine shows the beautiful mineral crispness and linearity that characterize volcanic soils. The mouthfeel is fleshed out and shows impressive consistency. This structured white wine should continue its bottle evolution over the better part of the next decade.
Broad, ripe and fleshy with ripe yellow plums, integrated oak and notes of flowers, saffron and anaise. The palate shows amazing freshness and a long, jewel-like, mineral-tones finish. Made partly with fruit from 100 year old ungrafted vines.
Aromas of pear with some lemon curd and green mango. Dense and balanced by a good backbone of acidity with a clean apple pie-like finish. Drink now. Nov 16, www.jamessuckling.com
