A solid white, the 2016 Château Puygueraud Blanc is a mix of mostly Sauvignon with a smaller amount of Sémillon. This citrus, lemon, and white grapefruit-scented effort has bright, juicy acidity, some attractive reductive characters, medium body, and a clean, crisp finish.

The 2016 Puygueraud Blanc has a straightforward bouquet of cooking apple, gooseberry and nettle aromas that just needs a little more energy. The palate is better, showing good tension from the entry, and offering notes of white peach, Asian pear and a seam of orange zest toward the finish. Fine.
A dense and rich blend of 80 per cent sauvignon blanc and 20 per cent sauvignon gris that delivers dried-pear and grapefruit character on the palate. Full body. Flavorful finish. Just a hint of aniseed at the end. Drink now.
The 2016 Puygueraud Blanc is bright, crisp and intensely saline, with that classic touch of reduction that adds character and tension to the citrus, orchard fruit, sage and floral notes. This is very nicely done. The blend is 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sauvignon Gris. In 2016, the Blanc is absolutely delicious. Tasted three times.

The Thienpont family bought Ch. Puygueraud in 1946, running it as a farm until the 1980s when Nicolas Thienpont moved the focus to viticulture, with the first vintage in 1983. Based in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, the property comprises 47 hectares of vines, both red and white.
