Really vivid raspberry and boysenberry confiture notes stream through, flecked with anise and singed apple wood flavors. Nice explosion of spice through the finish. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com

Bright glowing crimson. Floral top note. Sweet start and great care taken with tannin quality. Savoury end. Real raciness. Polish and savour. Well done. A pleasure to taste.  Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2025-2042

The 2016 La Croix de Gay is sweet, powerful and quite oaky. There is no shortage of immediacy in this racy, overt Pomerol. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later. Overall, the 2016 comes across as a bit simple and one-dimensional.

The 2016 La Croix de Gay has a refined bouquet with black and red fruit, truffle and subtle violet scents, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. I admire the purity here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well judged acidity, very linear and precise with a crisp and tensile, quite saline finish. This is a great La Croix de Gay and given its modest price, this should be an attractive proposition once released. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2021-2040
