The 2016 Louis has a deep garnet-purple color and features wonderfully pure notions of crushed redcurrants, blackberries and black plum with hints of yeast extract, tapenade and lavender plus a waft of spice cake. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has lovely harmony and depth, with a soft, velvety texture and oodles of freshness, finishing long and lively.

From the eastern part of Saint Emilion and a 3-hectare estate, the 2016 Château Louis checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc brought up in 50% new oak. It's a rich, blackcurrant, plum, violet, and graphite-scented effort that's a touch monolithic, yet has plenty of fruit, subtle background oak, and a good finish.
Some stony aromas here with a bright edge of blue fruit and blackberries, as well as wet earth and a very neatly delivered oak influence. The palate has a vibrant and structured feel. Great depth and drive here. Try from 2022.
The 2016 Louis is dark and plush, but also overripe and raisinated in its flavor profile, which suggests the harvest may have been a bit later than optimal.
