The 2016 Monbrison has a well-controlled, focused bouquet with blackberry, strawberry, cedar and pencil box scents. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with gently grippy tannins. Slightly granular in texture, this might have undergone a tad more extraction than its peers, but it retains balance and there is freshness on the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2016 Monbrison has a soft, slightly smudged bouquet of straightforward red fruit laced with leather and hints of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins, muffled black fruit laced with white pepper and a gentle, open-knit, rather Pauillac-like finish. Fine, but not as long-term as its peers. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Clean and fresh nose. Racy and pacy despite the sweet, ripe fruit. Quite a bit of dry tannin on the end though. (JR)
I loved the 2016 Château Monbrison, an incredibly charming, classic Margaux. Beautiful notes of black raspberries, spicy wood, dried flowers, and incense all define this medium-bodied, floral, elegant, balanced effort. I suspect it will continue offering pleasure for 15-20 years.
