A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, from gravelly soils, the 2016 Château Pomeys offers a sweet nose of raspberries, cedar, and damp earth/herbal notes to go with a medium-bodied, lightly textured, elegant Cru Bourgeois that’s already charming and ready to go. Drink it any time over the coming 5-6 years.

Some wilder and slightly rustic aromas here with a core of blue fruit and a cassis thread, leading to a straightforward and even palate that offers a simple, bright impression. Try from 2022.
The 2016 Pomeys has an understated but precise bouquet with blackberry, cedar and undergrowth aromas that become more vocal with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, and very harmonious. The Pomeys offers vivacious red berry fruit towards the finish. Delicious! Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.
60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Restrained nose, savoury cassis on the palate which is jazzed up with a splash of clove spice from oak age. Lightly chewy texture. Pretty good persistence – will the nose become more open with time? (RH)
