The 2016 Château de Myrat has more depth than the Sigalas Rabaud, again quite Riesling-like, with hints of green olive infusing the honey and lanolin scents. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, good weight, admirable purity and an elegant finish that urges you to take another sip. This shows better than it did just after bottling. The 2016 de Myrat is showing a bit of volatility on the nose compared to its peers, although it seems to gain clarity with aeration. Feisty! The palate is better, presenting a harmonious opening and more composure than the aromatics. Lightly viscous in texture with fine acidity, it offers attractive peach and pineapple notes on the understated finish. Fine. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Deep coppery gold. Heady, floral nose. Very intense. Big and heavy. Peachy and forward. Round and hint of sticking plaster. Lots to chew on. There is interest here certainly! (JR)
A very fresh and vivid Sauternes with dried-pineapple and lemon-cream aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and very sweet yet tight and lively. Attractive botrytis undertones. Drink now or hold.
