Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2019-2035, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Mar 2019

This is a very small property located between Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Saint-Pierre (Pomerol) gives compelling scents of kirsch, wild blueberries, plum preserves and spice cake with nuances of unsmoked cigars, cardamom, tilled soil and lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate possesses great elegance and poise with a firm, finely grained texture and loads of freshness on the long, mineral-laced finish.

The tiny Château Saint-Pierre has turned out a brilliant 2016 Pomerol that offers loads of ripe black cherries, new leather, gravelly minerality, and hints of graphite. It's medium to full-bodied, has a wonderful, elegant texture, fine tannins, and a great finish. It's going to keep for 10-15 years.

Some of the truffle, chocolate and earthy character of good Pomerol, plus a full, rather polished palate with plenty of fine tannins. The bold finish is quite firm, so better from 2020.

The 2016 Saint-Pierre (Pomerol) is one of the sleepers in Pomerol, and a wine that has the potential to develop into something truly special. Today, the 2016 is a real stunner, just as it was from barrel. Graphite, smoke, lavender and spice abound in a deep, explosive Pomerol endowed with tremendous flavor intensity and overall character. I loved it.
