Note di degustazione
The 2016 Villemaurine has a subtler and more understated bouquet compared to its peers, but I admire the purity of fruit; blackberry, briar and light pinecone aromas gradually gain intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. Not deep or powerful, but very well balanced, delivering a caressing, silky-smooth finish that lingers wonderfully. Very classy winemaking is in evidence here. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. Plush texture but a bit loose and without focus. Acidity dominates tannin. Fruit-cake flavours and quite long. Just a little drying on the end. (JR)
Mid purplish crimson. A note of coconut and veg on the nose – I’m not sure this is a good thing. Rather drying with a lack of fruit on the finish. (JR)
