The 2016 Filhot has a very light and simple bouquet, and just refuses to engage with the senses. The palate is slightly angular on the entry, again very simple, with almond and caramel towards the finish. Far behind the peloton. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Unclean nose and impressive richness of fruit on the palate! Dry finish. A mix of good and bad that is rather frustrating. No length. (JR)
Pale to medium lemon-gold in color, the 2016 Filhot gives pronounced notes of guava, pineapple upside down cake, marzipan, musk perfume, Manuka honey and allspice with a hint of crème brûlée. Full, rich and concentrated, a lovely line of freshness cuts through the dense savory/sweet layers, finishing earthy.
RS 132 g/l. Smells a little brûlée. Then rather sudden and brutish on the palate. Simple green notes on the end. (JR)
