Note di degustazione
The 2016 Rouget has an intense bouquet with liquorice-infused red fruit, white pepper and a touch of rosemary, gaining more tertiary scents as it opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grip, wonderfully balanced, vibrant and spicy, with a persistent, quite powerful finish. It is a '16 that wants to be noticed, but frankly it does not hit like other, more successful recent vintages. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2016 Rouget has a generous, quite opulent bouquet featuring cedar and touches of dark chocolate; a light truffle scent bubbles up with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a little lactic in style, the oak just a little prominent toward the rather hard finish. This is one of the most extrovert and ambitious Pomerol crus, and it will require several years in bottle to develop more refinement. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Sweet, ripe, black cherry nose. Edgy, chewy finish. Alcohol and extraction just a bit too much. Hollow. (JR)

Close to the Pomerol church, the Labruyère family purchased this property in 1994. They immediately set to work, restructuring the vineyard, renovating the winery and allowing the property to emerge from the shadows.
