2013 Vosne Romanee Vieilles Vignes

(made from the village and premier cru parts of Les Rouges and from vines planted "along the walls of Clos Vougeot," according to Laurent): Healthy bright red. Aromas of redcurrant, cherry, raspberry, bitter chocolate and smoke. A bit youthfully tough and imploded, hinting at red berry and iron scents. This wine from vines entirely within Flagey-Echézeaux combines the finesse of Chambolle with the flavors of Vosne-Romanée. Shows good inner-mouth tension and finishes with noteworthy persistence.
