Note di degustazione
The 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals a dark garnet color, as well as an elegant, peppery, spicy nose with hints of fruitcake and red fruits. It is not complex, but it does possess fine density, medium to full body, and good richness in the finish. Lushness and overall generosity make for a modern styled, pleasing, cleanly made Chateauneuf du Pape. Anticipated maturity: now-2005. This large estate, southeast of Rayas, produces nearly 23,000 cases of red wine from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, and 5% Cinsault. There is an unwarranted tendency to criticize Chateau Vaudieu because it is owned by the omnipresent Meffre family, who has major holdings throughout the Rhone Valley. Although made in a modern, risk-free style, the wine is richly fruity, medium to full-bodied, and certainly good. It will never be outstanding, but the wine is consistent, and predictable. No known American importer.
