(14.8% alcohol): Pale, bright yellow. Rich aromas and flavors of yellow peach, exotic fruits and smoke. Large-scaled, mouthfilling wine with enough acidity (4.2 grams per liter) and grapefruit zest lift to avoid coming off as heavy. An element of salinity, which Audrey Braccini says is unusual for Prouges, contributes to the impression of freshness. Really superb thickness of texture and ripeness of fruit here. Initially a bit warm on the back but finishes with terrific grip.

The 2015 Pouilly Fuisse Clos des Prouges has a clean and precise bouquet, quite nuanced at first before developing more intensity: bruised green apple, freshly sliced pear and a touch of spice. The palate is very well defined with crisp acidity, spicy at first with hints of ginger that complement the citrus fruit, fanning out toward a really convincing, quite delicious and sophisticated finish. This is absolutely top-rate from Ferret, perhaps one of the best wines that I have tasted from the estate.
Here too strong reduction renders the nose impossible to correctly assess. The big-bodied and extremely rich flavors combine both power and salinity where the latter helps add a bit of lift to the driving finish. This very definitely isn't an elegant wine but it's a bit more refined than usual as well as one that should reward a few years of bottle age.
Tank sample. Very rich nose. Then excellent acidity on the palate. Smells of spearmint! Rewarding. Still quite chewy on the end. (JR)
