Punteggio 98/100 · Da bere 2022-2050, Neal Martin, Aug 2021

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux 1er Cru is a wine that I fell head over heels for in barrel. It is limpid in color and extraordinarily intense on the nose, embracing that summer's warmth without denuding it of precision or terroir expression, and delivering plush blueberry, raspberry coulis and emerging touches of iodine. This Cros Parantoux is just revving its engine. The palate is beautifully balanced with sappy red fruit and impressive depth. It still needs a couple of years to fully integrate, but you must stand back and admire its persistence. Huge potential. Tasted blind at Maison de Colombier in Beaune.

Emmanuel Rouget's 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux is superb—and one of the high points of this great year for red Burgundy—soaring from the glass with aromas of spice, game bird and wild red and black fruit, its new wood already well integrated. On the palate, the wine is gourmand, textural and full-bodied, with bottomless depth at the core, underpinned by a bright line of acidity that lends length and grace. The cool mesoclimate of the Clos Parantoux has married to great effect with the balmy 2015 vintage.

(from a .70 ha parcel of 55+ year old vines). Here too there is a discreet application of wood setting off the elegant, cool and airy aromas of purple fruit, plum, spice and exotic tea-scented nose. The super-sleek and beautifully well-delineated medium weight flavors are like rolling pebbles around in the mouth, all wrapped in a hugely long finish that also displays just a whisper of warmth. Interestingly, this isn’t quite as concentrated as the Ech but there is more minerality and a bit more supporting acidity as well. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
