Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2022-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

The 2015 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is more brooding than the Champs Saint Etienne, wafting from the glass with suggestions of black cherry, wood smoke, licorice and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with impressive depth and concentration, juicy acids, and the structure for sustained evolution in bottle. It was with this lieu-dit that the Roty family's association with Marsannay began, as Joseph Roty was hired to work the vineyards here by Monsieur Dupont-Tisserandot, who rewarded him for his labors with a plot of vines.

Healthy medium-dark red. Inviting, floral nose combines boysenberry, licorice and violet. Juicy, spicy and intense, displaying noteworthy precision for 2015. Finishes classically dry and long, with some spicy oak to be absorbed.

Deep ruby-red. Brooding aromas of black cherry, violet and licorice. More closed and medicinal than the Champs Saint-Etienne, in a rather powerful black fruit style. More tannic as well; this very fresh wine may be longer but it's less fun today. Pierre-Jean Roty often does two pigeages per day during the early and middle stages of the fermentation, and one is aware of the extraction here.

(from 80+ year old vines). A background application of wood sets off a ripe and well-layered nose that combines liqueur-like aromas of red and dark cherry, spice and soft earth hints. There is a slightly finer mouth feel to the delicious and nuanced flavors that brim with dry extract on the energetic, powerful and relatively robust finale. This is impressive and the old vines are very much in evidence. Recommended Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
