The 2015 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very traditional, well-defined and somehow noble bouquet evidencing some stem addition that is complementary to the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This does not have the spellbinding precision of Rousseau's Chambertin tasted alongside, but depth, grit, spiciness and impressive structure render the finish utterly compelling. Cellar this for at least another decade; it will surely be worth the wait. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Biodynamic. Mid crimson. Fragrant with dark-red fruit. Finely perfumed. Then a little abrupt and closed on the palate, needing a good bit more time than the Chapelle-Chambertin, I think. Compact tannins, dry, almost austere but balanced – just embryonic. (JH)
The 2015 Chambertin Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet with fine mineralité and real transparency, frankly operating at a higher level than the Latricières or Chapelle-Chambertin. The palate is crisp on the entry with fine tannin, shimmering red berry fruit laced with minerals and impressive precision on the finish. This is brimming over with energy and somewhat predictably is the pick from Rossignol-Trapet this year.
