The 2015 Marsannay makes a terrific introduction to Sylvain Pataille's reds. Delicate and floral on the palate, the 2015 is a wine of precision and class. Sweet red berry, floral and savory notes give the 2015 much of its immediacy and sheer appeal.

Knee-weakeningly lovely oak scent and juicy fruit on the nose. So much on offer here, with tenderness to the apple fruit and a very lovely acidic balance. (RH)
The 2015 Marsannay Clemongeots had been racked around two weeks before my visit. It offers generous mulberry and dark cherry aromas on the nose with a touch of reduction that will soon disappear. The 50% whole bunch fruit is neatly disguised on the palate with fresh acidity and pleasant bitter cherry notes on the undergrowth-tinged finish. There is fine volume here with a hint of tangy marmalade on the aftertaste.
This is also very ripe but the nose of liqueur-like dark berries is slightly fresher. Similarly the exceptionally rich and again full-bodied flavors possess a succulent and suave mid-palate that tightens up somewhat on the clean and agreeably dry finale.
