Concentrated, round, ripe and mouthfilling, combining sweet red berry and spice flavors with a savory element. The supple tannins are buried in fruit on the long back end. La Riotte is always an open style, notes Laurent Lignier, adding that its pH in 2015 is between 3.6 and 3.7. This fruit was harvested on September 11 at 14.2% potential alcohol, with the rocky but deep soil producing 40 hectoliters per hectare.

The 2015 Morey St Denis 1er Cru La Riotte has an elegant bouquet with lifted redcurrant and raspberry scents, nicely defined with just a hint of menthol developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, tensile tannin. There is plenty of black fruit here, good grip with a firm, quite masculine finish. It will gain more flesh by the time it is in bottle.
Juicy and very cherry. Fine, sweet and polished. (JR)
