Cask sample. Bright cherry red. Fragrant and almost delicate overall. Really very subtle, with the finesse of the tannins giving length to what is otherwise restrained; lightly scented mid palate. So subtle I may be underestimating it. (JH)

The 2015 Morey Saint Denis 1Er Cru les Millandes includes 55% whole bunch fruit and 35% new oak. This might actually be the only cuvée from the domaine that shows some of the warmth of the growing season, with hints of date and fig infusing the black fruit. Attractive for sure, though the Gevreys have more class. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent black fruit, sweet and slightly candied in the mouth with a gentle grip, I just find the finish a little static at the moment. Perhaps it will gain more tension once in bottle.
The Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes (vineyard located below Clos de la Roche) is also a lovely wine. The nose is offering airy red fruit – floral and expressive (50% whole cluster) with a refined minerality from the terroir. On the palate very rich – yet still vibrant and energetic offering juicy mid-palate fruit – fine length. Jun 2016, www.winehog.org
