Mid cherry red. Vibrant dark fruit, very inviting. Just a touch of herbal/whole bunch. Supple, fine-grained, lightish overall but really long. (JH)

Cask sample. Rich and sleek on the nose. Masses of jewelly fun. Lots of sweet fruit followed by sinewy vegetation note. Quite complex and more refreshing than the Chambolle. (JR)
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Au Closeau, which lies in front of Les Corbeaux, is only bottled separately by one or two growers, others' holdings too small and usually blended into other vineyards. It has a sultry bouquet with subtle earthy scents infusing the brambly red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. It feels linear and maybe conservative, but there is plenty of freshness and there are attractive bright red cherries and crushed strawberry on the finish. Enjoy this over 5-7 years.
(from 60+ year old vines). This is also exuberantly fresh and bright with its ripe but cool aromas of slightly more deeply pitched dark currant, raspberry and plenty of earth and humus nuances. There is a lovely mouth feel to the sleek and moderately muscular flavors that display more evident minerality on the saline and balanced finish that also exhibits just a hint of rusticity. This should be capable of rewarding up to a decade of cellar time. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
