Punteggio 91-93/100 · Da bere 2020-2040, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Noirots is located close to Bonnes-Mares on limestone and red clay soils. There are just two barrels this year, one new and the other one-year-old. It has a perfumed bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the buoyant, vivacious red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe red cherries, crushed strawberry, orange rind and a pinch of sea salt. It is very well balanced and almost diverts you away from the structured finish with a firm backbone, implying that it will need 4-5 years in bottle before it reaches its drinking plateau. It represents another very well-crafted wine from Bruno Clavelier.

(from three different vine ages--85 years, 70 and 40+--but even the younger vines are millerandé ; from red soil with orange rocks and a lot of magnesium and iron; the malo finished in October): Deep, bright dark red. Pungent aromas of black raspberry, crushed rock and flowers. Densely packed, powerful and wonderfully rich, displaying both an almost chocolatey ripeness and lovely inner-mouth perfume. There's an attractive noble bitterness here that Clavelier says comes from the magnesium in the soil. This powerful, masculine, slightly unrefined wine boasts good plenitude but will need time to harmonize. Clavelier notes that it combines the pulpy style of Chambolle-Musigny with the power of Bonnes-Mares.

Background nuances of wood don’t interfere with the clear expression of the notably ripe liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, spice and evident floral aromas. There is excellent size, weight and power to the unusually refined and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess first-rate complexity on the saline and bitter cherry-inflected finale. This is finer and less Bonnes Mares-like than it usually is. In a word, excellent. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
