Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2020-2032, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2017

Mid cherry red. Ripe and sweet on the nose. Red fruit and vanilla sweetness but still fresh and fragrant. Elegant, finely textured tannins. Much the freshest and most vibrant of the Chevillon wines tasted here. Harmonious if not especially intense. (JH)

(from a parcel on very thin soil, not far from the quarry): Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, blackberry, tropical bitter chocolate and smoky oak on the nose. Silky and fine-grained, showing a blacker, more medicinal fruit character as well as more obvious mineral energy and mid-palate lift than the Roncières. This is a step up from the foregoing samples in juiciness and delineation.

(from a .60 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). This is more deeply pitched still with its layered combination of plum, dark currant, spice and freshly turned earth. The rich, full-bodied, ripe and quite serious medium weight flavors exhibit an abundance of minerality along with excellent persistence on the firm and mildly austere but not rustic finale. This should amply reward extended keeping and it is going to need at least 7 to 8 years. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
