The 2015 Côte de Nuits-Villages is very good, its lovely bouquet of cassis, cherries, plums, raw cocoa and rich soil introducing a rich, ample wine structured around fine-grained, chalky tannins, with a long, penetrating finish. The core of this cuvée derives from the lieu-dit Que de Hareng in Brochon, effectively a continuation of Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles but only entitled to the Côte de Nuits-Villages classification.

Good dark red. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, smoke and animal fur, plus a slight fruit compote character from the very dry conditions of the year. Then sweeter and more refined in the mouth than the Bourgogne, offering an attractive balance of sucrosité and salinity. Finishes with good length and fine-grained tannins.
Medium red. Ripe aromas of kirsch and blackberry, plus a touch of sweet oak. Sweet and juicy on the palate, conveying an impression of energy to the flavors of dark berries, chocolate and leather. Some hydric stress here held down grape sugars, noted Bachelet.
From quite high up the slope above Brochon. Racked in June. Perfumed. Racy and fine. Very charming. Good transparency and neatness. Quite long. (JR)
