Punteggio 86/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Lavrottes has a vexing nose that seems to show some volatility and animally/feral character that detracts from typicité. The palate is medium-bodied and here there is some brettanomyces character coming through that subdues the fruit towards the finish. It is not extreme, but it shaves away what could have been a much better wine. Tasted September 2016

Good medium red. Dark aromas of pungent raspberry, cranberry, violet and licorice. Supple and sweet, with a creamy mid-palate texture enlivened by strong floral character. Firm acidity and serious tannins appear later, framing the wine's finish.

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Les Lavrottes is sexy and voluptuous to the core. Sweet, silky tannins meld around a core of radiant fruit. Dark red cherry, plum, wild flowers and mint all open up in the glass. The inclusion of 50% whole clusters gives the 2013 an extra kick of brightness and saline-driven freshness.

Bright red-ruby. Pungent aromas of wild blackberry, boysenberry and minerals show very good lift. Spicy black fruit flavors are framed by bracing acidity and given a rather austere edge by notes of pepper and herbs. This will need a few years of patience.
