(also the last vintage for this young-vines bottling, as the estate decided that it was too difficult to allocate these 3,000 bottles): Bright full red. Very ripe aromas of strawberry and raspberry. Supple and sweet on entry, then a bit aggressive and medicinal in the middle, showing a darker fruit character than most of the foregoing wines. In a rather strict and youthfully unyielding style, finishing with slightly tough tannins but good minty lift. The wines made from these younger vines, planted at the end of the '80s, have gotten a bit less charming in recent years, according to Godot. Still, this is quite serious for village wine.

(entirely destemmed; from two meters of argilo-calcaire soil over mother rock, with the vines averaging 25 years of age): Deep, bright red. Distinctly closed on the nose, conveying a medicinal reserve to the aromas of black cherry, violet and spicy oak. More solid and muscular than the Suchots; classically dry but with lovely dark berry intensity. This juicy, pure wine is quite youthfully imploded today and its finish is tannic and a bit unyielding.
The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Petits Plets, matured in 40% new oak, has a more complex bouquet compared to the Clos de l'Arlot this year, black earthy fruit mixed with mineral and slightly ferrous scents. It seems quite mercurial in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red fruit on the entry, and a citric line of acidity that binds everything in towards the long and tender finish. There is a sense of class and sophistication about this Petits Plets.
