2015 La Patache

The 2015 La Patache has turned out even better than I expected. All the elements have come together very nicely in a Pomerol that is pliant, silky and harmonious. Hints of iron, smoke, leather and tobacco add aromatic nuance to the intense, red-toned fruit. This mid-weight Pomerol has a lot to offer, especially if enjoyed over the next handful of years. The 2015 La Patache is medium garnet-purple with a nose of baked cherries, stewed plums and warm mulberries with dried herbs and earthy notions in the background. The medium to full-bodied palate has nice vibrancy and expression, soft, velvety tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long.

The 2015 La Patache is ripe, racy and forward with good overall depth and juiciness. Although not the last word in complexity, the 2015 offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Plum, black cherry, hard candy, violet and sweet spices add nuance on the racy finish. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from 25 year-old vines in Pomerol's Clinet district.
