This property is owned and managed by the Vauthier family of Château Ausone. The 2015 Simard is composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It sports a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is vibrantly scented of red currants, black cherries and warm plums with hints of violets and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, very fine, fruity and elegant with ripe, fine-grained tannins and wonderful freshness, it finishes with a red cherry lift.
Made from 100% Merlot, the 2015 Château Simard is a solid, elegant, lightly textured Saint-Emilion that offers plenty of cherry and blackberry fruit intermixed with underbrush, spring flowers, and an almost peppery note. It has an herbal edge, medium body, integrated acidity and a clean finish, all of which make for a charming, incredibly drinkable 2015 that will last for 15 years.
Very dark purple. Unusually exotically concentrated on the nose. Really very perfumed – violet cachous?! Quite a bit of green on the end. A most unusual wine for which I think you will have to wait. (JR)

Owned by the Vauthier family, who also own Ch. Ausone, this large Saint-Emilion estate is the entry-point to the Vauthier range. It is an excellent introduction to the family’s wines and great value, offering an earlier-drinking style.
