Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2018-2023, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2018

The 2015 Petit-Figeac has come together nicely since I last tasted it. Fruity, forward and supple, it is tasty second wine meant to be enjoyed in its youth. The slightly roasted character I saw en primeur is less evident today.

Composed of 32% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Petit Figeac reveals notes of warm cherries, red currant jelly, aniseed and forest floor with touches of wild blueberries and blackberries. Medium-bodied, very finely crafted, elegant and refreshing, it fills the mouth with open-knit red and black fruits, finishing with a velvety texture paving the way.

35% of the crop; they have to make a second wine because they have quite a lot of young vines. 32% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon. Yield 41 hl/ha. Picked 21 September - 15 October (for very late Cabernet Franc)! 30% new oak and shorter élevage. Good drive and raciness on the nose. Real sinew and savour. Polished tannins but good Figeac character. A success! Superior ink. GV? 14%.

This is very powerful with lots of dark chocolate and blueberry character. Full body, concentrated and chewy.
