Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2018-2028, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2017

Proprietors Bénédicte and Erik Nieuwaal have produced a gorgeous 2015 Château D'Aurilhac which is based on close to equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with tiny amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. While not the most massive and concentrated wine out there, it shines for its purity and finesse, as well as its perfumed nose of strawberries, rose garden, and damp herbs. With fine tannin and integrated acidity, drink this beautifully balanced 2015 anytime over the coming decade.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2019-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2017

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 D’Aurilhac offers dense, tightly wound blackberry and boysenberry fruit on the nose, spicier than its peers with just a touch of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, cohesive and nicely balanced with just a touch of spice toward the sweet, confit-like finish. Fine. Tasted September 2017.

49% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Petit Verdot, 2.5% Cabernet Franc. Mid crimson. Greyish rim. Racy, stony nose. Good energy and a little drying on the end but very much de nos jours . The sort of ‘cool’ stony effect that Mendozans would kill for. (JR)

Blackish purple. Spicy sweet fruit with a hint of oak still on the nose. Broad on the palate with light floral notes. Neat with some hint of milk chocolate. Lots of life. Just slightly more oak influence than I would like. (JR)
