The 2015 La Commanderie is dark, fleshy and seductive. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, espresso and spice notes make a strong opening statement as this broad, ample Pomerol shows off its personality. Resonant and expressive in the glass, the 2015 exudes character. A host of floral and spice notes from the Cabernet Franc add aromatic lift and a measure of freshness that plays off the bold fruit nicely.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 La Commanderie (Saint Estephe) has a lively and quite powerful bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow notes, although like the de Côme I would like more detail and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin. There is good backbone here, quite strict and linear, though I would like to see more flesh develop toward the finish. Not bad though. Tasted September 2017.
Low-key, rather suave nose. All in slightly lower register than most Pomerols – distinctly less ripe. But useful for those who are wary of too much sweetness? (JR)
The 2015 La Commanderie offers lovely freshness and energy to balance its radiant, expressive fruit. Ripe red cherry, pomegranate and blood orange notes are nicely delineated throughout. I very much like the aromatics and overall balance here. This is a Pomerol built on nuance.
