The 2014 Joanin Bécot has a well defined bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, cedar and cold stone, almost Left Bank in style. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin on the entry, a little simple and primal with an assertive, rather “blunt” finish that needs to rediscover the complexity previous bottles have shown. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

The 2014 Joanin Becot has an elegant bouquet with red cherries, bergamot and cassis aromas, a touch of cedar developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a silky smooth texture; it is less chewy than it showed out of barrel. No, it is not a deep Saint Emilion, but there is ample tension and great persistence in the mouth. This is just a delicious Joanin Becot.
The 2014 Joanin Bécot is dark, fleshy and seductive. Sweet red cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and tobacco all infuse this succulent, pliant Côtes de Castillon. The 2014 has become quite refined over the last 18 months, and today, it is super-expressive. The blend is 75 % Merlot and 25 % Cabernet Franc, aged in 60 % new French oak. Jean-Philippe Fort is the consulting winemaker. Tasted two times.
