The 2015 Quintus is a delightful Saint-Émilion that is drinking well at the moment. It has lovely briar and cedar scents on the nose (just like before) and demonstrates a little more freshness than the Pavie-Macquin alongside. The palate is well balanced with crisp and vivacious red fruit and slightly powdery tannins but clearly this has much more tension, vivacity and grip on the finish. This is worth seeking out.

This is delivering well at the 10 year point, has the exuberance of the vintage but transmits it through a measured delivery of autumnal berry fruit studded through with fennel, white tea and smoked earth. A limestone fingerprint gives a juicy finish, and this is enjoyable, reflective of intense work at this point since the Domaines Clarence Dillon team had taken over, with intensive replanting work in the vineyard to increase density and track terroir. Here you start to see what can be achieved at this property, and it tastes even better at the decade point.

Incredibly dense nose of cocoa powder and savory notes. Hard to imagine how a red wine could be more delicious than this beauty, which glides effortlessly over your palate. In spite of all the richness, this is filigree, subtle and gentle. Drink or hold. Château Quintus vertical tasting. SP.
