Luscious deep cherry red, texture is visually supple and follows it up in the mouth, poised and maintains momentum through the palate. Great quality wine, a little subdued compared to some 2015s right now, and there is a flash of heat but it is well balanced by fruit and spices. 50% new oak for ageing, Diam cork, cold soak, natural yeasts, punching down, no added SO2 during fermentation, and by this point the cellar was closer to plot by plot with oak, stainless steel and concrete vats. The 2015 Marquis de Terme was picked from September 10 to October 1 and matured in 50% new oak. It is a vintage that I have enjoyed in the past, and this bottle compensates for a questionable showing at Southwold. Plenty of blackberry and grilled meat notes appear on the nose, which is powerful with ample delineation and freshness. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's linear on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, one of the spiciest vintages in recent years, with a tingle of black pepper on the aftertaste. This 2015 deserves longer in bottle. The 2015 Marquis de Terme has a ripe, slightly exotic bouquet with subtle raisin and fig aromas infusing the red fruit, not ostentatious but certainly leaning toward the more opulent side. The palate is ripe and rounded on the entry and lower in acidity than its peers. The plush finish detracts from typicity. Just a bit... trop? I'm not sure how representative this example is, and I would like to revisit. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Tasted blind. Sweet, perfumed. Dry finish but with good energy. Just too austere on the end though. (JR)

This Fourth Growth estate has been owned by the same family (the Sénéclauzes) since 1936. Over the last 25 years, later picking, a higher level of sorting and modern winemaking has fine-tuned the quality.
