The 2015 Les Grands Chênes offers arguably the best value pound for pound of any of the wines in Bernard Magrez's stable. Black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and dark spices abound. Virile and imposing, the 2015 is a big, intense wine with considerable personality. The tannins need to be polished a bit, but there is plenty to like. This is a strong effort for the year. The 2015 les Grands Chenes is pale to medium garnet-purple in color with a nose of raspberries, dried Mediterranean herbs and tilled soil. Light to medium-bodied, it's relatively soft and fresh in the mouth, if a little light on fruit concentration and finish. Feb 2018, www.robertparker.com
