The 2015 Haut-Carles offers notable intensity, power and ripeness, all in a decidedly fleshy style. Black cherry, chocolate, plum, spice, leather and new oak are all pushed forward. This is a decidedly racy, concentrated Fronsac built on intensity. The tannins still need to settle down, but the 2015 is impressive. Readers should expect a plush, overt style. Tasted three times. The 2015 Chateau Haut Carles has a generous bouquet with blackberry, iodine and incense aromas, a little broody at first, but soon lightening up in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet opening, perhaps just a touch over-extracted, though the acidity keeps everything in kilter towards the finish.
