Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, Neal Martin, Mar 2018

The 2015 Desmirail has a nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary and iris aromas, gaining intensity in the glass, a Margaux with commendable presence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is saline in the mouth, quite brine-like towards the finish but I appreciate the length and persistence here. This fulfils the promise that it showed out of barrel and constitutes one of the longer-term Margaux wines. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux.

The 2015 Desmirail is a forward, juicy Margaux to drink now and over the next handful of years. Succulent dark cherry, plum, licorice, cedar and tobacco all flesh out in this attractive, plump Margaux. The 2015 is a bit simple, but absolutely delicious at the same time.

The 2015 Château Desmirail shows how good 2015 was for the appellation of Margaux. Offering classic red fruits (some cassis as well), toasted bread, white chocolate and background oak, this beauty is medium to full-bodied, elegant and polished on the palate, with ultra-fine tannin. With the telltale elegance and nuance of the appellation, it needs 2-3 years to integrate its oak and then will shine for at least 10-15 years.

Vital concentrated crimson. A bit sweet toasty oaky on the nose. Oak is a little dominant on the palate too. Slightly astringent finish. (JR)
