Readers looking for a wine that overdelivers should check out the 2015 Clos Lunelles, which comes from the Castillon region of Bordeaux. This medium to full-bodied, incredibly elegant red shows some obvious limestone-influenced minerality as well as outstanding notes of black raspberries, dried flowers, and a distinct salinity. It’s well worth seeking out and will keep for another decade at a minimum.

The 2015 Clos Lunelles is gorgeous. Succulent, rich and inviting, the 2015 exudes class. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, blood orange, white chocolate and spice flesh out in this radiant, voluptuous Côtes de Castillon from Gérard Perse. Even with all of its intensity, the 2015 retains gorgeous aromatic freshness and lift from the limestone soils. The 2015 is 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Composed of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak, 80% new, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Clos Lunelles leaps from the glass with exuberant black and red currants notes plus touches of wild thyme, garrigue, damp soil, charcoal and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a solid structure of firm, chewy tannins and is packed with savory notions, finishing with a pleasant herbal lift.
