Grilled cedar on the nose, ripe fruits, soft raspberry and black cherry flavours, clear mint leaf and liqourice, this is good quality, and one of the rare wines in this northern stretch of the Médoc where I can clearly see that the 2015 is a greater success than the 2014, reflecting the specific progress at Camensac. 60% new oak. Drinking well today, the 2015 Camensac is a notable success in the vintage. Bursting with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, spices, vanilla pod and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a lively and expressive core of fruit. There's no reason to wait.
Tasted blind. Big boned, bloody and ambitious. Could give the odd classed growth a run for its money. (JR)
