Note di degustazione
Medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, mocha and underbrush could use a bit more youthful lift. Sweet and pliant in the mouth, offering early appeal but only modest complexity and thrust. The initially fine-grained tannins turned slightly dry with air.

Healthy dark red with ruby tones. Ripe aromas of cassis, black cherry, coffee and stone, plus a suggestion of iron. Broad, pliant and sweet; a distinct step up in texture and depth from the basic village Gevrey, offering flavors of cassis, blackberry, violet, licorice and menthol accented by a minty nuance. Finishes ripe and supple, with lingering notes of spices and iron. A very good showing today.
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Chenys has a rather savory, dried-blood-tinged bouquet that takes time to coalesce in the glass. The palate is smooth and ripe with burnt toast infusing the black savory fruit. The oak just feels a little too toasty on the finish and detracts from the terroir expression. There is quite a marked gap in quality between this and the Champs Cheny Vieilles Vignes this year.
