Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2040, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2016

The 2014 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has the most extrovert bouquet compared to the Chapelle and Mazis-Chambertin: kirsch, allspice, a touch of fennel and iodine that soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit, well-judged acidity, compact and tight with a muscular finish that needs to evolve the complexity demonstrated by the aromatics. Give this 4-5 years in bottle, because there is potential here.

(from 60-year-old vines):Bright dark red. Sexy soil-driven perfume of raspberry, redcurrant, underbrush, spices, dried flowers, minerals and vanillin oak. Fat and dense but still quite primary, with flavors of raspberry, black cherry and spicy oak coming across as a bit youthfully stunted today. Finishes savory and long, with firm tannins calling for more élevage . Boasts excellent potential but this wine will also require several years of bottle aging.

Early malo. Pale cherry red. Very light and charming – it’s not immediately obvious this is a grand cru. Masses of fruit. Sweet and seductive. (JR)
