The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots has a very poised, floral bouquet with much more complexity and intensity than the 2014 Vosne-Romanée Chaumes. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, very structured and firm in the mouth with a long and persistent, saline finish. It feels like a very "correct" Suchots at the moment, but I envisage that it will gain weight and the vineyard's trademark opulence with time in bottle. This is excellent. Tasted November 2016.
Good dark red-ruby. Complex aromas of raspberry, licorice, sexy spices, mocha and underbrushy earth are flamboyant and vibrant. Wonderfully sappy, dry, fine-grained Suchots with strong soil character and solid underlying minerality. Finishes firm, lively and very long, with repeating earth notes.
(tasted from tank): Healthy bright red-ruby. Precise aromas of blackberry, black raspberry and bitter chocolate. Very sweet and suave, showing inviting chocolatey ripeness kept in check by firm acid grip. Lovely graceful premier cru with ripe tannins and building length.
