Sweet and scented. But not that intense and a bit inky and dry on the end. Should be a bit more exciting in view of the price and AC. (JR)
Fresh, dark red. Violet, licorice, dark chocolate and graphite minerality on the soil-driven nose. Very ripe, lush and suave in the mouth, showing a captivating sugar/acid balance to the flavors of dark fruits, flowers, spices and saline minerality. This very serious premier cru finishes dry and broad, with dusty, late-arriving tannins and a lingering note of licorice.
The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaux Monts has a tightly knit blackberry and briary nose, backward and sultry at the moment. The palate is well defined with fine tannin, chalky in texture with good tension and a palpable sense of energy and mineralité on the finish. This is a great Les Beaux Monts in the making, reflective of its terroir and very precise...but the Suchots might be even better!
