2014 Fixin Clos du Chapitre

Bright, dark red. Red soil aromas of redcurrant, rust and minerals. Linear and upright, even a bit youthfully austere, but with attractively sweet red fruit flavors backed up by a firm mineral spine. The yield here was a low 25 hectoliters per hectare. (Méo's Pommard, from a single hail-affected source in 2014, was too reduced to assess in November. )

The 2014 Fixin 1er Cru Clos du Chapître appears to have much more definition and focus than the village cru, a step up in terms of complexity and precision. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, touches of blueberry and raspberry, the oak nicely integrated with a harmonious, pleasing finish. This is recommended.
