Gosset's 2006 Grand Millésime Brut is still on the market, and the wine is very open and expressive by the house's standards, bursting from the glass with notes of crisp but sun-kissed yellow orchard fruit, pear, clear honey and warm biscuits. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, broad and creamy, with a fleshy, generous profile that's balanced by brisk acids and enlivened by a delicate pinpoint mousse, concluding with a subtly chalky finish.

Subtle putty aromas on the nose. Very dry and with some real interest and appetising energy here. Good stuff! Still pretty youthful and falls away a little on the end. (JR)
Pinot Noir-based blend. A light dairy note, lemon curd on toast, strong autolytic brioche character and honeyed on the palate. Rich, mouth-filling and long. Almost chewy on the finish – lovely texture. Masses of sustained pleasure. (JH)
56% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir. Pale straw. Already quite a bit of evolution on the nose – more than most 2006s. Lightly bready. Then reasonably sweet start tips it into brioche country. Agreeably medium level of fizziness and nicely dry on the end. Tight-laced finish. Nicely knit and at a good stage for current drinking. (JR)
