The 2014 Laroze has a slightly herbaceous bouquet that needs more fruit. It feels lean and broody, lacks the charm of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. There is a little hardness on the entry and it needs more flesh and fruit to develop on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep blackish crimson. Polished tannins and real effort made here to combine fruit and structure. To be really picky, it lacks just a little freshness and drive, but it’s certainly well made. (JR)
The 2014 Laroze has a raw and rather mean bouquet that does this wine no favors. The palate is simple with hard tannins and a short, unappealing finish. There are simply better wines out there.
The 2014 Laroze is a rich, dense wine. Smoke, wild cherry, tobacco and game give the wine its distinctive feral personality. There is no shortage of power or density, but the Laroze never manages to shake its rustic feel. The blend is 68 % Merlot, 26 % Cabernet Franc and 6 % Cabernet Sauvignon. Hubert de Boüard is the consulting winemaker. Tasted two times.
