Deep garnet with a purple rim, the 2012 Shiraz Johann Georg gives a wonderfully perfumed nose of exotic spices - cumin seeds, star anise and Chinese five spice - over a core of warm blueberries and blackberries plus a hint of cedar. Full-bodied yet with great freshness and not at all heavy, the palate offers layers of baked berry and spicy flavors supported by velvety tannins and finishing with superb depth and poise.
