Note di degustazione
While not an ardent admirer of the domaine's wines during the 1970s, the 1976 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru showed very well when encountered in Burgundy. Showing commensurate bricking on the rim for its age, it has a sense of warmth on the nose (vestiges of that mercilessly hot summer), with warm bricks/terracotta intermingling with decayed red fruit, tobacco and undergrowth. The palate was fresher than I expected and displayed more finesse than some of the more lauded wines of the 1980s. I liked the balance and harmony on display, the roundness on the sensual, old-fashioned but engaging finish. It is simply a lovely old Musigny. Tasted June 2017.
